Murdered to Death

The Players will be holding open auditions in April for "Murdered to Death" (directed by Bob Sampson). We invite anyone interested, seasoned actors and beginners to our auditions.

An hilarious spoof of 1930s Agatha Christie murder mysteries.

SUMMARY

Guests at a country manor house become the target of a killer. The plot centres on an incompetent Inspector Pratt investigating the deaths, alongside an amateur sleuth, Miss Maple. The play has all the classic Christie archetypes: a butler, a stiff-upper-lipped colonel, a shady art dealer, and a high-society woman, all caught up in the side-splitting antics and escalating confusion. The important thing is - can Miss Maple solve this one?

Anyone is welcome to come along and read the script – particularly to familiarise yourself with it before auditioning, or just for the enjoyment of it!

Tuesday 7 April at 7pm in the Theatre.

Rehearsals will likely commence around the final week of April, on weekday evenings TBC.

CHARACTERS

Mildred - Late fifties. Moderately wealthy owner of Bagshot House.
Dorothy - Mildred's niece. Late twenties and rather plain.
Bunting - The butler. Sixties. Pedantic and rather creepy.
Colonel Charles Craddock - Early sixties. Dresses in tweeds. Confident but blustering.
Margaret Craddock - The long-suffering but acerbic wife of Charles.
Elizabeth Hartley-Trumpington - Mid twenties. Attractive and stunningly dressed. Very high society.
Pierre Marceau - A french art dealer in his early thirties. An exaggerated french accent.
Joan Maple - A spinster in her sixties. Amateur sleuth.
Constable Thomkins - Young, bright uniformed village policeman.
Inspector Pratt - Inept, posing and clumsy.

The characters in Murdered to Death are all deliberately based upon ‘whodunnit’ stereotypes. Ages are for guidance only and can be varied.

We are also seeking additional crew (no experience neccessary):

Assistant/trainee director
Stage crew
Props and scenery team members
Set construction team members

Auditions are open to all, regardless of experience - all that's needed is enthusiasm and an open mind! Anyone cast will be expected to become a member of the Hurst Players.
