The Girl on the Train

Production Dates: 14 - 18 April 2026

The Players will be holding open auditions in December for "The Girl on the Train" (directed by Hannah Porter). We invite anyone interested, seasoned actors and beginners to our auditions.

Based on the best-selling novel by Paula Hawkins and the Dreamworks film.
Adapted for stage by Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel

SUMMARY

Rachel Watson longs for a different life. Her only escape is the perfect couple she watches through the train window every day, happy and in love. Or so it appears. When Rachel learns that the woman she’s been secretly watching has suddenly disappeared, she finds herself as a witness and even a suspect in a thrilling mystery in which she will face bigger revelations than she could ever have anticipated.

Anyone is welcome to come along and read the script – particularly to familiarise yourself with it before auditioning, or just for the enjoyment of it!

Auditions

Tuesday 16 December at 7pm &
Thursday 18 December at 7pm in the Theatre.

Rehearsals will generally be Monday and Thursday evenings, starting Monday 19th Jan, with potential to do a cast and crew meet and greet the week before.

CHARACTERS

(No set ages, but around 25-45, ideally cast around the same age, with DI Gaskell any age)

Additional non-speaking parts can be played by ensemble or additional cast.

A contemporary play set in a suburban town in England, set in present day with contemporary costumes/street clothes. Run time approx. 120 minutes (2 hours) with 2 acts.

Auditions are open to all, regardless of experience - all that's needed is enthusiasm and an open mind!
